Policies, Standards, Guidelines and Code of Practice

Although Charles Sturt University has most of its activities within NSW jurisdiction, legislation from other states and territories is included for completeness. In some circumstances this legislation may be relevant if teaching/research is being conducted in those jurisdictions.

Often the term 'standard' is used to denote something that is legally enforceable, while a 'guideline' is considered a recommended practice. However, this is not always the case in Australia particularly if the 'standard' is national as the Federal government has limited ability to propose and publish animal welfare legislation.
