Data analysis software

A wide variety of software is available on all University Desktops and additional software is available via software download, through the Computer Shop or SPAN.

  • staff can contact the DIT Service Desk for support in accessing eResearch Services. Ensure that you include the word ‘Research’.

NVivo

NVivo is a qualitative data analysis package, used to code and analyse qualitative data, such as open-ended survey responses, transcriptions of focus groups, or other text-based and narrative data.

NVivo software can be downloaded from the install software desktop icon or the DIT website.

SPSS

SPSS is among the most widely used programs for statistical analysis in social science.

SPSS software can be downloaded from the install software desktop icon or the DIT website.

Spatial Analysis and Mapping - ArcGIS

A Geographic Information System enables spatial analysis and mapping.

ESRI's ArcGIS software is available to students and researchers by contacting SPAN.

Remote Sensing and Image Analysis

ENVI software is available to analyse remotely sensed imagery and LiDAR data.

Simulation and Modelling

Matlab and Simulink software with a range of toolboxes is available to Charles Sturt researchers on SPAN's research computer. Maple and Mathematica are also available.
