Research at Charles Sturt

Charles Sturt is a world-class, research-driven university for the study and practice of rural health, cyber, food and water security, and regional wellbeing.

We have a history of discovery from turning human hair into graphite for lithium-ion batteries to eliminating the tropical parasitic disease schistosomiasis to saving the stocky galaxias fish from extinction.

The history of Charles Sturt University dates back to 1895, with the establishment of the Bathurst Experiment Farm. Formed progressively through the merger of regional institutions in south-western and western New South Wales (NSW), the University was formally incorporated on 19 July 1989 under the Charles Sturt University Act 1989.
