Wellness 2 Age® is a Charles Sturt University-developed healthy ageing program helping older people stay independent, confident and connected.
Through partnerships with health and community organisations, CSU research is being translated into practical, evidence-based support for older people across rural and regional communities.
Australia’s ageing population presents far-reaching implications for our society. These include direct challenges to health systems due to changing health profiles, increasing demand for health service use, as well as rising health and aged care costs, particularly in rural areas.
Innovative, evidenced-based, and accessible community-based programs are required to keep people living well and independently at home for longer.
Wellness 2 Age is a pre-packaged community-based program that simultaneously focuses on multiple aspects of ageing through a range of activities that are meaningful to the individual person that supports performing everyday tasks and activities.
W2A relies on allied health professionals to oversee delivery.
In the rural and regional communities that need it most, that workforce is thin and stretched, which limits reach, adds cost, and is the single biggest barrier to scale-up and commercialisation. The people most likely to miss out are those already facing the greatest inequity in access.
Wellness 2 Age helps older people stay well, active and independent at home, with demonstrated improvements in mobility, cognition, social connection, and quality of life.
Now we need to embed digital health innovation, so this proven support reaches every older Australian, wherever they live.
