Sarah is a dedicated academic with a PhD in Cell Biology and Protein Biochemistry from Charles Sturt University in 2021. Sarah developed a university-wide support for students program, embedding tutors into key first-year undergraduate subjects to increase student engagement.

The Program was recognised nationally for its impact on student retention and success, particularly for equity cohorts and students from underrepresented backgrounds. Her efforts in enhancing student success in higher education has been recognised nationally with the prestigious 2022 Australian Award for University Teaching Program award (Student experience that supports diversity and inclusive practices) as well as a 2022 ASCILITE innovation award and was a finalist in the 2023 Australian Financial Review Educational Awards (Equity and Inclusion).
