Mechanisms of viral protein nuclear import
The Faculty of Science is seeking a PhD candidate investigate the role of matrix protein in Nipah viruses. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the Wagga Wagga Campus of Charles Sturt University under the supervision of Professor Jade Forwood.

You will require either an honours or masters degree with a research component. It is also desirable if you: have a background in protein biochemistry, protein expression and purification, and/or protein crystallography. You should have excellent writing skills with a track record of publication; have an interest in the subject matter; and are enthusiastic about working in a dynamic interdisciplinary environment.

The scholarship provides the following benefits:
Stipend: This scholarship is valued at $27,596 per annum, payable in fortnightly instalments.
Tuition Fees: Fee exemption for a period equivalent to three years (six sessions) for PhD/Research Doctorate at full-time study.
Operating Funds: Scholarship recipients are allocated an allowance per session of enrolment to assist with the reimbursement of costs associated with the candidate's research.
Relocation Allowance: Scholarship recipients may be eligible to receive a relocation allowance for the cost of relocating themselves, their partner, and dependants to a CSU campus, to a maximum of AUD $5,000.

The scholarship stipend and tuition coverage is tenable for three years for Research Doctorate studies subject to satisfactory progress.
An extension of the stipend and tuition coverage of up to six (6) months may be granted for Research Doctorate candidates, where the candidate is making satisfactory progress and the grounds for the extension relate to the study and are beyond the control of the candidate.
The scholarship operating fund allowance is tenable for three years for Research Doctorate studies subject to satisfactory progress. N.B. There is no opportunity to extend operating funds.
